The chiefs and the people of Gomoa Potsin celebrated their annual Akwanbo festival with pump and pageantry at Potsin in the Gomoa East District.
At a durbar to raise funds for a durbar grounds project on Sunday 5th February, 2023 at Potsin, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa East, Hon. Solomon Darko-Quarm, disclosed that the Assembly has supported the project on three occasions and again donated Five Thousand Cedis (Gh₵5000.00) towards the project.
He called on parents, whose wards are at Potsin Ahmediyya Senior High School (S.H.S.) to warn them to desist from collaborating with some town guys particularly the day students to engage some boarders in fights, warning anyone caught in the act would not be shielded.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Gomoa East District, Hon. Desmond De-Graft Paitoo appealed to the town folks to support the Durbar project financially and with communal labor to ensure early completion. He also supported the project with Four thousand Ghana Cedis (Gh₵4000.00) from his common fund.
The Central regional Minister, Hon. Justina Marigold Assan, called for unity among the people and encouraged the Chiefs to ensure they continue with the commitment towards the completion of the project. She disclosed the Assembly is very distinct because it has Seven (7) One District one Factory project, of which some have been completed and others ongoing and in addition, government is considering dividing the District into two (2).
She disclosed that a contractor has been engaged to see to the Awomerew road project and will soon see him working on the project. She called on the chiefs and the people to support the Assembly and the DCE to continue the ongoing project and she also supported the project with Ten Thousand Cedis (Gh₵10, 000.00).
Potsin-Odikro, Nana Twieku Adasoa, advised the youth to desist from elicit activities such as drug abuse, teenage pregnancies and others but to learn a trade or take education serious to become useful citizens of the town and the nation. He also appealed for the Potsin junction-Awomerew road to be constructed and more desks for the Potsin D.A. Junior High School.
