Second Ordinary Meeting of the Gomoa East District Assembly held

The District Chief Executive for Gomoa East Hon. Solomon Darko - Quram, has disclosed that the district was not spared of the ravaging effects of the covid 19 pandemic which had a toll on the finances of the assembly. Adding the Assembly responded positively to the challenge and commended the District Health Directorate for their hard work. The DCE was addressing the Second Ordinary Meeting of the Gomoa East District Assembly held at Gomoa Potsin.

He said the District had 397 suspected cases out of which 218 were from enhanced surveillance, and 179 out of the number from routine surveillance. 52 out of this number were confirmed cases of which 50 were successfully treated and discharged, while 2 deaths were recorded.

He said, the Assembly took measures to mitigate the spread of the virus which includes fumigation exercise in markets, school( both basic and senior high) ,Churches durbar grounds, palaces and other public places and commended the Environmental Health Department and Zoomlion Ghana Ltd for the good job done in that direction.

 He added the Assembly again provided 30 community stand pipes and (4) polytanks across the District to increase access to potable water for residents in those communities, which central government added to the stock through GWCL ,places like Buduburam had only 3 public stand - pipes but can now boast of 10  stand pipes  and about 6 poly tanks serving people. He said other communities like Akotsi, Bankyease, Apra, Dampase, Adawukwa and others have all benefited from this package.

On infrastructure, he disclosed that the Assembly continues to use its common fund for developmental projects and ensures that the IGF is rather used for other recurrent expenditure.

The Assembly later discussed and approved the annual composite budget and Action plan for implementation in 2021.
