Potsin T.I Ahmadiyya Senior High Secondary School @ 50


Her  Excellency  , the 2nd Lady of the Republic of Ghana,  Mrs.   Samira Bawumia, has advised beneficiaries of the Free SHS Policy to take advantage of the opportunity given them by the NPP government to access Secondary Education free of charge by studying hard to become good asset of the nation.

She gave the advice at  the 50th anniversary celebration of Potsin  T.I. Ahmediyya SHS which was celebrated on 1st October ,2022, on the Theme’’50 Years of Educational  Excellence : Potsin T.I. Ahmediyya  SHS in retrospect ‘’.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa  East ,Hon. Solomon  Darko –Quarm , who is an old student of the school recounted the changes the school has gone through over the years from hostels and dormitories in people’s  chamber and hall homes in town . P-AMASS now have  storey  buildings as dormitories for both boys and girls on campus , 3- big buses ,1-mummy truck and a pick –up as her  fleet.

He said, gone were the days when it was a taboo to opt to study science at the school ,now  ,despite some challenges ,they are running many enviable programmes  including Science, Engineering ,ICT ,the Arts among others .

The Member of Parliament (MP  )for  Gomoa  East ,Hon. Desmond De-graft  Paitoo , commended  teaching and non-teaching staff of the school for their commitment and also for directing the  children for self-awareness and growth .Adding ,their long periods of service in the district is a critical piece of history and anticipated their continued growth and promising future .

Head mistress of P-AMASS  , Hajia  Zainab  Adams ,disclosed the total school population currently is 2,254  ,comprising  1,024 boys  and 1,230 girls of which 1,805 are boarders and 449 day students .The total staff strength is 177,  made of 138 teaching  and 39 non- teaching staff .

On  challenges ,she disclosed of an absence of an administrative block , an assembly hall complex ,inadequate staff  accommodation ,absence of a library , science lab , dining  hall and kitchen among others which the school is  confronted with which hinders the smooth implementation of strategies for the academic excellence they profess .
