Demolition of Buduburam Camp


Some portion of the Buduburam Township which was embarked for the then refugees from Liberia during the Liberia civil war has been demolished by Traditional Authorities of Gomoa who are owners of the land.

The traditional leaders alleged after the repatriation of the refugees to Liberia due to the end of the war, criminals and miscreant locals and foreign nationals have taken over the place.

 It is in the light, that they the authorities came together to seek support from government to demolish the slum which has become a den for criminals, prostitutes and others.

The regional security committee (REGSEC) together with the District Security Committee (DISEC) on Thursday, 29th February, 2024, paid a visit to the area to see for themselves how the place is 2- days after the demolishing exercise by Traditional Authorities.

They discovered majority of the foreigners have converged at Point Hope Basic School at the camp together with some salvaged properties. Others were also seen in groups sitting or standing near their properties in the neighborhood.
